Mike Blose
Captures Back-to-Back Wins at Marion Center and Dog Hollow Blose claims two wins in recent weeks.... Recently, Mike piloted his #5 Crate Late Model to victories at Dog Hollow Speedway on August 21, and then again the following weekend at Mercer Raceway Park, on August 29. While Mike has claimed a number of victories at Dog Hollow Speedway in the past in his Super Late Model, this was the first Crate Late Model victory of his career. The win at Mercer was his first time visiting victory lane at that facility. Mike would like to thank his sponsors for their continued support during the 2009 racing season, which includes: Pro Shot Directional Boring, Country Palace, CLV Accounting, Freedline Auto Repair, Brocious Lumber, Victory Signs, B&R Welding & Fabrication, Mitchell's Garage, Benny Gordon Racing, Fleming Design Solutions, Gipsy Country Shop, The Primitive Peddler, and Ingram Racing Engines. For more information on Mike Blose visit: MikeBloseRacing.com From track reports: Dog Hollow Speedway, August 21, 2009: The Fastrak late model feature saw Mike Blose and Chris Schneider on the front row with Blose taking the lead and Kirby Tucker falling into second with Dan Karalagas in third. Blose continued to set the pace with the battle for second heating up between Tucker, Karalagas, Schneider and Daniel Angelicchio. As the leaders entered lapped traffic on lap 14, the battle for second got a little tighter, with Karalagas having nowhere to go and tagged Tucker, spinning Tucker and initiating a caution. On the restart Angelicchio was third behind Tucker as Blose was in his own race. The white flag lap saw Angelicchio shoot to the outside of Tucker for second and at the line, it was Angelicchio for second. The top five were: Blose, Angelicchio, Tucker, Tommy Snyder and Chris Schneider. Heat wins went to Mike Blose, Daniel Angelicchio and Butch Lambert. Mercer Raceway Park, August 29, 2009: "After making the move to run FASTRAK, these guys are really tough," described the New Bethlehem, Pa. driver. "You have to have your ducks in a row to even run with these guys. There are probably eight cars on any given night that can win. Max had a pretty good car. We were pretty good tonight, but I don't know if we would have got him or not. That's too bad he got in lapped traffic- it would have been a good race." Ben Black led the opening lap before Blose shot under the leader in turn four on lap two. Blair, who started fifth, drove under Black in turn two to grab second on lap three. Blair immediately caught Blose and took over the lead with an inside pass in turns one and two on lap five. Blose wasn't about to give up as he pulled even on lap six and the duo ran side-by-side for three laps trading the lead with Blose nosing ahead on lap seven and Blair regaining the lead on lap eight. Blair maintained the lead without too much challenged until lap 12 when Blose was all over him and made the move to lead the lap, but Blair gained the lead right back again on lap 13. Racing off turn four coming down to receive the two to go signal from starter Todd Beichner, Blair went to the inside of the lapped car of Jamie Brown, while Blose to the outside. Brown tried to move to the inside at the start-finish line, but turned into Blair and sent him spinning. Blose would survive one more restart for his second career FASTRAK-sanctioned victory as he won his first ever at Dog Hollow Speedway on August 21 in his Pro Shot Directional Boring/Country Palace/Victory Signs/Primitive Peddler-sponsored #5. Blose became the fifth different winner of the season and 11th in the two-year history of FASTRAK weekly at Mercer. Butch Lambert, who started seventh, had passed Shane Bambarger for third right before Blair's spin and would come home a season best second. Brian Booher came from eighth to place third. Bambarger turned in his career best FASTRAK effort in fourth with Steve Hollabaugh earning his season best finish in fifth. Blair came all the way back in two laps to finish sixth over Mike Pegher, Jr., who had to start last after winning his last three appearances. Former Stock Car, E-Mod, and Modified racer Mike Anderson, Sr. was eighth in his second ever FASTRAK start. Jason Fosnaught was ninth over newcomer Jeremy Wonderling. Heat winners were Blose and Blair.
Video Footage, Firecracker 100, Lernerville Speedway June 26/27, 2009 A WEEKEND OF UP'S AND DOWNS FOR BLOSE RACING As feature time neared, the team was excited to find that Mike would start the feature on the pole. The crew went to work on the #5 machine, making several small adjustments in preparation for the night’s event. As the green flag dropped, the veteran Blose wasted little time pulling out to a considerable lead, running the lower half of the track. The new chassis was performing nearly flawless, as Mike jumped out to a 1/4 lap lead by lap six, at which point the first caution flag flew. Sammy Stile had overtaken the second spot, followed by John Britsky. On the restart, Blose began to pull away again; however Sammy was coming on strong on the high side in the #2S machine. At this point, the events second, and final caution flag came out. A very excited Blose and crew celebrated in Victory Lane for the first time in quite a while, hopeful that this trend was one that would continue. Mike expressed thanks to his sponsors, as well as both Brian Daugherty and Gary Satterlee for their help with the baseline setup of the new car. Saturday evening at Marion Center Speedway would prove not to be as successful. After fighting with some braking issues during both the heat and feature, Blose finished a disappointing 8th place during the 20 lap event. Gregg Satterlee claimed the victory, going two-for-two this season at the speedway. Following Gregg across the line were John Britsky, Dane Laraway, Rick Strong, and Rod Phillips rounding out the top 5. Sixth through 10 went to: Sammy Stile, Dave Blazavich, Blose, Clate Copeman, and Jerry Redden. On Sunday, the Blose Racing team headed to Central PA Speedway in Clearfield, PA for the O’Reilly All-Star, 50-lap, $7,000 to win event. 46 Super Late Models filled the pits. Fast time went to Boom Briggs, while Mike was 18th quickest around the circuit. Heat race numbers 1, 2, and 3 went to Boom Briggs, Dan Stone, and Jeremy Miller; while Blose finished in the third transfer spot during heat #3, following Coleby Frye and Sammy Stile across the line. B-Mains went to Waylon Wagner and Robbie Blair. The field was now set for the 50-lap feature event. Coleby Frye wasted little time moving to the front of the pack from his 8th place starting spot, as Blose had moved to 10th from the 13th starting spot. After several cautions, Frye remained out front, while Mike had pushed the #5 Impala SS into the 8th spot. Jared Miley was on the move however, from his 15th starting position, and was tracking down Frye who had distanced himself from the rest of the field. A late race caution on lap 44 was all that Miley needed, as he powered past Frye and went on to claim the victory. Frye ran a very strong second, followed by Mike Knight, Jeremy Miller, and Gregg Satterlee. Rounding out the top 10 were: Rob Blair, Boom Briggs, Denton Boyer, Dave Hess Jr., and Keith Barbara. When the checkered flag was raised, Blose had faded into the 11th spot. Mike and crew were disappointed with the finish, but were also glad to bring the car home in one piece. You will find Mike and the #5 ride in action again this week on Friday at Dog Hollow Speedway, Saturday at Marion Center Speedway’s Memorial Day Special, and on Sunday during the United Late Model Series’ $2,000 to win event at Tri-City Speedway in Franklin, PA. Jason Fleming – Fleming Design Solutions www.flemingdesignsolutions.com MBR SALVAGES WEEKEND WITH GOOD RUN AT MCKEAN (Dayton, PA) – The Mike Blose Racing team took to the track two nights this past weekend, and was able to grab a couple of top ten finishes. Friday night, MBR headed to Dog Hollow Speedway in Strongstown, PA. Blose was able to take home the heat race win and rolled off in the 6th starting spot in the feature. From the start of the race, the 5 ride couldn’t be found in the right spot at any time. Heading into turn 1 on lap 2, Mike had to check up to avoid an extremely tight spot and looped the Rocket Chassis sending him to the rear early. From then on, Mike tried to battle his way back through the field only to be collected in a number of scuffles. In what seemed to be an everlasting race, with a beaten and battered car, Mike was able to scrap his way into the top ten when the checkered flag finally flew. Sammy Stile took home the win after a great battle with Chad McLellan who took home 2nd. The rest of the top ten was: 3. Matt Gaston; 4. Bobby Stokes; 5. Rick Strong; 6. Dwayne Taneyhill; 7. John Britsky; 8. Billy Eash; 9. Clate Copeman; 10. Mike Blose. A lot of work went into the car on Saturday to get the #5 Rocket Chassis ready to head to McKean County Raceway and it paid off. Mike took the green in the 11th starting spot in a stacked field of ULMS competitors. A complete restart was in order after Peter Mantha and Mike Knight tangled in turn 1 one the 1st lap. After a few restarts in the first 5 laps, Bob Close took the lead over Gregg Satterlee and the two set a very fast pace for the entire race. Dave Hess and Boom Briggs rode in 3rd and 4th comfortably until lap 12 of 30 when Mike was able to move his way into the top 5 passing veteran Ron Davies. For the final half of the race, Blose, with a very fast racecar, went to work on the rear bumper of Hess and Briggs as Satterlee worked over Close for the lead. A yellow came out with 5 to go just as Mike had finally worked his way around Hess for 4th, which landed Blose back in the 5th spot for the restart, and set up a phenomenal finish for the fans. In the final five laps Mike was eventually able to wheel his way past Hess for 4th. Briggs wound up in 3rd, and Gregg Satterlee made a bonsai pass on the high side after following Close for much of the race to lead the final two laps and pick up the $2,000 win of the Jim Duffy Memorial. The top ten of the ULMS 30-lapper was: Gregg Satterlee, Bob Close, Rick "Boom" Briggs, Mike Blose, Dave Hess Jr. Ron Davies, Jason Dupont, Doug Ricotta, Mike Knight, and Jeff Hoffman.
BLOSE RACING PREPARES FOR 2009; UNVEILS NEW WEBSITE Dayton, PA (March 1, 2009) After another successful season in 2008, which found Mike finishing a respectable third place in the Lernerville points chase, Mike and crew are ready to return to action in 2009. They have been busy preparing several race cars, including the #55 Crate Late Model of greenhorn Joe Martin from Ringgold, PA. Joe has been a long time fan and crew member of Mike's and is excited about his racing debut. Said Joe, "Mike has been a tremendous help in assisting me with getting this car ready. I'm excited to begin my racing career and am fortunate to have the knowledge and experience of a veteran driver like Mike at my disposal." Work on the famed #5 machine only began in recent weeks, Mike stated "We've been so busy working on Joe's car, that we've just now gotten around to working on my own car." When asked what his plans were for 2009, Blose said "I'm still uncertain about where I'm gonna run this season. Whether we'll run for points again at Lernerville- I don't know yet?! I've been running American Racer's and with their new rules, I would have to switch to the track spec Hoosier tire midway through. I haven't decided yet whether that is the right decision for me. I also just found out about this deal with Marion Center and Dog Hollow. I've had a lot of success at both of those tracks in the past, so that certainly isn't out of the question either." He went on to say that "With the economy the way it is right now, I think you'll see a lot of teams cutting back this year, and we might be one of them. There's a chance that I won't chase points anywhere and just run where we please and take things on a week to week basis. It all depends on how our sponsorship deals come together. We'll just have to wait and see how things play out!" Mike did note that a TENTATIVE schedule has been posted on the website. Blose also mentioned that sponsorship opportunities are still available for 2009. If you are interested in becoming a part of one of Western Pennsylvania's most successful race teams, just let them know via email at: ablose@hotmail.com Mike extended his thanks to Jason Fleming at Fleming Design Solutions for designing the website. "It's a great way for our fans to keep track of where and when we'll be racing. As you can see, Jason did another awesome job on the site for this year-we couldn't be happier! I'd recommend his services to anyone." For more information on Mike Blose and Blose Racing visit: www.MikeBloseRacing.com Written and distributed by:
