Lernerville Fab Four
"Regular Show" - 2008 |
|
The 2008 racing season
started out with Alan Dellinger (aka Jim Dandy Jr.) behind
the wheel. Mike was sidelined due to some off-season
shoulder sugery. Alan was able to pick up a win and
several top 5 finishes before Mike made his return.
Mike has been a consistant performer since his return and
currently sits in third place in the points race, behind
2007 Track Champion Alex Ferree, and 5-Time Track Champion
Lynn Geisler. Consistant Top-10 and a handful of Top-5
finishes have been keys towards this success. |

Firecracker 100 - June 27, 2008 / July 29, 2008 |
|
After weighing in 18 lbs.
too light during time trials, Mike was forced to start at
the tail of his heat race, and what a wild one it was!!
After charging forward through the pack, Mike found himself
going for a wild ride off of turn 3 on lap 9 of 15.
Fortunately, Mike was unharmed and was able to continue.
With only 6 laps remaining, the veteran driver pushed the
car to it's limits and was able to move back into the third
and final transfer position, passing the likes of Jimmy
Owens and Keith Barbar during that run. The remainder
of this event was rained out and was made up on Tuesday,
July 29. Mike started 14th in the $40,000 to-win,
100-lap A-main. After completing 49 of the 100
circuits in an ill-handling racecar, eventually being lapped
by then race leader Daryll Lanigan, Mike decided to take the
car to the pits and call it a night. He wound up
finishing in the 26th position, collecting $2,000 for his
efforts. Brian Birkhofer was the eventual race winner. |

A first place finish in
heat race action relegated Mike to a 14th starting spot in
the 51-lap A-Main. After several flat tires, Mike was
able to contend with the extremely rough track surface and
bring home a fourth place finish. |
